The Predator, originating from the 1987 film Predator, is a fictional extraterrestrial species renowned for its hunting prowess. They are often referred to as Yautja in expanded universe materials.

Physically, Predators are humanoid but distinctly alien, possessing mandibles, dreadlock-like sensory organs, and thick, armored hides. They are physically imposing, typically standing over seven feet tall, and possess incredible strength and agility.

Predators are driven by a strict code of honor centered around hunting. They stalk and kill worthy prey, often humans or other dangerous creatures, collecting trophies as proof of their skill. Their technology includes cloaking devices, advanced weaponry like plasma casters, and wrist-mounted computers for targeting and self-destruction.

Over several films and expanded universe content, Predator lore has been developed, depicting their societal structure, hunting practices, and encounters with humans. They are portrayed as apex predators, constantly seeking challenges and honing their skills against the most dangerous prey the galaxy has to offer. The Predators have crossed paths with humans in various time periods and locations establishing them as a formidable foe.
